Book/CD design

Anton Pann Old Music Ensemble proposed itself to record the integrity of the certified compositions belonging to the Moldavian prince Dimitrie Cantemir (1673-1723). The recording included 18 pieces tracked on two CDs and accompanied by explanatory texts. In this respect, the project seemed to be more than a usual CD.

Factum Design considered necessary to create a simple but precious object, which could mark both the glorious epoch of the 17th century and the present moment. Thus, the double CD became a book (also an allusion to the scholar attribute of of the Moldavian prince) which contains the CDs fixed on the interior of each cover. For the covers we chosen the golden finish, using the golden folio, and an embossed ornament in order to underline a peak of the Moldovan culture. To enhance these features, on the interior we used only one colour (a refined dark brown) for text and photos. Close up images with musical instruments, taken by Alexandru Schiopu, enhanced the content with smart details. We used Meret (for body copy) and Fresco (for titles) typefaces from www.typeby.com.
