„Telurania” is an album dedicated to the prematurely deceased metal artist Olivia Manu. The concept of the book is based on the idea of a box full of precious memories. This concept was inspired by one of the texts written by Mioara Lujanschi, entitled „Box of Experiments,” as well as the autobiographical nature of the artwork, illustrated in the book-album, including jewelry, various sculptures, incredible drawings, sketches, and collages. Interestingly, this amazing work of art was printed by the artist’s mother and has an emotional and dramatic charge.
Breaking away from the norm, this book opens like a large building door, allowing one to discover the true message and beauty within its pages. The cover of the book is divided into two halves, which perfectly highlight the subject of the „Gate” sculpture illustrated on its cover, presenting the artist’s work. Additionally, the book’s generous format allows for various graphic liberties that complement and enhance the work found within.
Each text in the album was created with a different approach, as they were written by people who did not know the artist in her life. The mother’s text is laid out in a radically different way because her attitude towards the subject is also very different. The last page is illustrated with fragments of the artist’s work, where she prints her fingers daily. The last print is „cut” by the edge of the page.
